November 2nd

Feliz Dia De Los Muertos.

Someone who loves me very much made me sugar skulls and bread. I will clean the kitchen forever for you, mi corazón.

Also, I still have stashed fireworks. This is why I love my holiday. We light things on fire.

(I turned off the translator thing, finally. I can swear as long and as hard as I want now. I win)

Americanos.

Day of the Dead is a holiday in my country. We don't really celebrate Halloween. It's the first two days of November. It's when the spirits of the dead come back for a couple of days to hang out with the living.

We also like to make fun of death, because we like to show that we are not afraid of it. Hence, the skulls and the dressing up and the fireworks.

Oh, so it's like Obon without the dancing?

Well, yes. Having looked it up. There are also altars and offerings and things like that. But the only dancing that happens is the kind after you've had too much tequila.

Your version has tequila. It automatically wins.

One day I will take all of you to Guadalajara for a proper Dia De Los Muertos. Then you will see why it beats everything.

And no tequila for you, mieja. You may have all the horchada you can stand.

OOoh! I'd love to go. It's much more fun visiting a place when you know someone who speaks the language.

[identity profile] x-rictor.livejournal.com 2007-11-02 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. Also, I would have to go to counteract Kyle's Spanish. Which is like no Spanish I have ever heard.

You know, since I'm getting Nori to help me with Japanese (In return for food of choice.) I should get you to help teach me Spanish. :)

Although, admittedly I appear to suck at learning foreign languages. I'm told my accent is horrid.

Then why are you always there when I turn around?

This will teach me to have two journal windows open at the same time. *goes to put this where it belongs*

Hey, my spanish got the mexican food when we were all evacuated at the brownstown.

And by "My Spanish", I mean that I took Doug's list into the place and said "Halp. Does anyone here know Julio Richter?" and a dude said "Yeah, I know him." and I said "Dude thankgod because my spanish is ass."

Only if it has cinnamon.

Cinnamon sake would probably be good, actually. Now I want to try.

Cinnamon makes everything better. I am a cinnamon junkie.

Cinnamon and suishi would be terrible. Actually, cinnamon and most real food would be pretty bad.

You never know. In fact, I think we shall experiment.

They make chili with cinnamon in it. It's pretty good.
