Why I thought a red-eye flight was a good idea, I will never know.

The whole time I was back with my family, I kept calling this place home. I guess that is what it is now. I know my family had hoped I'd go to college someplace closer, but it is what it is.

My abuela also forced me to learn how to cook, since she doesn't trust anyone up north. Be afraid, be very very afraid.

The basics, pretty much. Different between pinch and a dash, don't lick the spoon if it's for others, and my rule of "If a little goes a long way than a lot will go even farther" is way off.

My empanadas were pretty terrifying looking, but they still tasted all right, does that count?

I could help you make them look less horrifying, if you want? But them tasting alright is a feat unto itself. When my dad taught me how to cook when I was little, he said how it tasted was the most important part.
